Underground Service Line Hit - Here's How We Fixed It Right

One dig is all it takes. A shovel, an excavator, even a fence post - and suddenly you've got a severed underground service line and no power. It happens more than people think, and when it does, it's not something you want to patch together and hope for the best.

Here's what we were working with on this one - a direct strike to an underground service line, with the individual conductors exposed and damaged. You can see the wire jacket shredded right at the point of impact. Red, black, green - each conductor took a hit. That kind of damage isn't a quick tape-and-wrap fix. The integrity of the line is compromised, and buried electrical faults are genuinely dangerous. They can cause fires, shock hazards, and ongoing power issues that are tough to trace.

The right fix means excavating down to the damage, assessing every conductor, and making a clean repair with materials rated for direct burial and underground use. We don't cut corners on underground work - the conduit and wiring going back in has to be spec'd correctly for its environment. Buried electrical isn't something you can easily get back to if it fails again.
